Status March 2004
11. Mar 2004
Just a few notices of progress:
1. EpiData will be released as v3.02 shortly (about 1-2 weeks).
Mostly bug fixes and some enhancements, e.g.
Bugs in functions for YYYYMMDD fields.
The viewer in v3 (document menu) will load files much faster
If you revise a qes file to change the structure of a rec file, epidata will notice this on first attempt to open the recfile and ask if you wish to revise.
Passwords for files with encrypted fields are reused within some minutes, e.g. if you add/revise fields, then test entering and go back to revise checks.
2. Funding has been secured to get parts of the analysis programme pushed forward, meaning that the basic parts will go for testing within the next month.
More specific news will follow when specific details are clear.
The first tests will include among other things:
frequency tables, tables, many data management features.
3. Plans are being detailed for adding audit trail/transaction logging features to EpIData.
IF you have not seen the developments of OpenEpi I suggest you look at it at Openepi.com
The site contains already many calculations for table data.
Unfortunately the mail adress info@epidata.dk has suffered "severe virus attacks" which has forced me to introduce as well spam as virus filters.
If you send mails to info@epidata.dk make sure the subject line contains information showing you have a real question or suggestion.
Kind regards - Jens Lauritsen
build (13Nov03)
13. Nov 2003
A new build was placed on Nov. 11th fixing two parts:
A bug in autosearch found due to very detailed report by Gerald Daurat France - thank you.
The bug would result in unsaved records.
When reading decimal point data with SPSS after exporting remember to set decimal point in windows to period (.), not comma (,) if you use this. Otherwise the decimal point variable will contain missing data.
If someone knows of a better solution write to info@epidata.dk
Get latest release from download page.

Download failures (new counting)
16. Oct 2003
Unfortunately the new counting mechanism for downloads resulted in many users getting errors.
Therefore the old pages have been restored. We will experiment more with the counting system.

NEW E-mail discussion list: EpiData-list
14. Oct 2003
A new discussion list is now available for users of EpiData.
To add your e-mail to the list go to:
the sign-on page
Since some users might not want the mails from the open e-mail list for all users and only receive information from the EpiData Association the maillist with information to users will remain.
The discussion forum is expected to be replaced with the e-mail discussion list.

No virus on epidata.dk
21. Aug 2003
During the latest days (week) massive virus attacks have occurred to many of us.
Some of the systems claims that info@epidata.dk is sending out virus of specific types.
This is not the case. All PC's sending mail as info@epidata.dk have been checked with Mcafee antivirus of August 19th.
